Prusa 3D Printing

Overview

What do I need to make a 3D printed object???

Section 1: Computer-aided design (CAD) software

Section 2: Access to a 3D Printer

Section 3: Slicing software that works with your 3D Printer

Section 4: Step by step guide using a Prusa 3D Printer

Section 1: Computer-aided design (CAD) software

We will need to select software that can model 3D objects and save 3D files as STL. files. There are many options to choose from when modelling in 3D. Some of my favourites include:

Onshape

SolidWorks

(Licenced by many schools and institutions)O

Section 2: Access to a 3D Printer

I'll be using the Prusa 3D Printer models shown below to demonstrate the process of 3D printing:

Section 3: Slicing software

Prusa provides its own slicing software (PrusaSlicer) to prepare your CAD models for printing:

Section 4: Step by step guide using a Prusa 3D Printer

Each of the sub-pages will cover all the relevant steps to 3D print an object using a Prusa 3D Printer:

  1. The 3D model: We will make a basic 3D model.

  2. Slicing the model: We will make a path for the 3D printer to follow so it can make the object by melting PLA plastic.

  3. Printing: We start the printing process.

  4. Maintenance of the Printer and filament: We cover all the basic maintenance of the printer and filament.
